Talk To Strangers
I propose that all people need an anti-lesson around talking to strangers. For obvious reasons of safety we’re taught to not talk to strangers. Makes sense. But at one point of aging we need to be taught how to talk to strangers again.
And after COVID a few of us may need a refresher on how to talk to anyone again.
I’m shy by nature, but I challenge myself to step out of the comfort zone. I give the compliment to the person that I admire something about. Or I make the little comment when we witness something comical together. We meaning, me and the stranger nearby. Sure, it’s not always smooth. But most exchanges are welcomed with a smile or even a flood of conversation.
I have met a cast of characters through the MKELoveLetter project. They have opened up my world to new viewpoints and have colored it with various stories.
If it weren’t for the willingness to say “yes” to strangers I wouldn’t have fun buttons to add to my love letters. I wouldn’t have a Bonus Stop activity on the Riverwest 24 route. Many delightful conversations were had. A book club going on six years (wow!). Connections that fill my feeds with beautiful art and inspiring stories. So much.
Dear Stranger, What was the last thing your “Yes” to talking to strangers brought you?
